Buttermilk pie

Buttermilk pie is a delicious and creamy dessert that’s easy to prepare. Here’s a classic recipe for making Buttermilk pie:

Ingredients:

  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs, beaten

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust: If you’re using a store-bought pie crust, make sure it’s thawed if frozen. Place the crust in a 9-inch pie dish and press it firmly against the bottom and sides. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges.
  3. Mix the filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Stir until well combined. Add the beaten eggs, buttermilk, flour, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Mix everything together until you have a smooth and consistent filling.

  1. Fill the pie crust: Pour the buttermilk filling into the unbaked pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  2. Bake the pie: Place the pie dish on a baking sheet to catch any spills. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for about 45 to 50 minutes or until the center is set and the top has a light golden brown color.
  3. Cool and serve: Once the pie is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. As the pie cools, it will firm up even more. You can serve it at room temperature or chilled, whichever you prefer.
  4. Optional garnish: Before serving, you can add a dollop of whipped cream or a dusting of powdered sugar on top of the pie for an extra touch.

Enjoy your delicious homemade Buttermilk pie!

Note: Buttermilk pie can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days. If you’re making it ahead of time, cover the pie with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.
