Chicken Philly Cheese Steaks

Chicken Philly Cheese Steaks

Chicken Philly Cheese Steaks are a delicious twist on the classic Philly Cheese Steak, featuring thinly sliced chicken breast instead of beef. Here’s a recipe to prepare them:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 large red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise
  • Optional: mushrooms, thinly sliced

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the chicken: In a bowl, season the thinly sliced chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  3. Grill the chicken: Drizzle a bit of olive oil over the chicken slices. Grill the chicken for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through and nicely charred. Once done, remove from the grill and set aside.
  4. Sauté the vegetables: In a separate large skillet, heat the remaining olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers (and mushrooms if using) to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are soft and caramelized, about 10-12 minutes.

  1. Assemble the sandwiches: Lay the hoagie rolls open on a clean surface. Divide the grilled chicken evenly among the rolls, placing it on the bottom half. Top the chicken with the sautéed onions and peppers, distributing them evenly.
  2. Add the cheese: Lay two slices of provolone cheese over each sandwich.
  3. Broil the sandwiches: Preheat your oven’s broiler. Place the assembled sandwiches on a baking sheet and broil for about 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the rolls are lightly toasted. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
  4. Serve: Once the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are heated through, remove from the oven. Close the sandwiches by placing the top half of the rolls over the cheesy chicken and vegetables.

  1. Serve hot: Serve immediately, and enjoy your delicious Chicken Philly Cheese Steaks!

Feel free to customize this recipe according to your preferences, adding spices or additional toppings as desired. Enjoy your meal!
