This hearty and flavorful dish is perfect for barbecues, potlucks, or a cozy meal at home. It combines smoky, sweet, and savory flavors for a delicious side or main dish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef or bacon (or a combination of both)

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) pork and beans (or baked beans)
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef (or bacon) until browned. If using bacon, cook until crispy, then crumble it. Drain excess fat.

  1. Add diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook until soft, about 3–5 minutes.
  2. Stir in all the beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake uncovered for 45 minutes until thick and bubbly.
  4. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve as a side dish with grilled meats or BBQ.
  • Enjoy as a main dish with cornbread or over rice.
  • Add shredded cheese on top for extra richness.
