Cowboy Baked Beans Recipe
This hearty and flavorful dish is perfect for barbecues, potlucks, or a cozy meal at home. It combines smoky, sweet, and savory flavors for a delicious side or main dish.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef or bacon (or a combination of both)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 green bell pepper, diced (optional)
- 2 cans (15 oz each) pork and beans (or baked beans)
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef (or bacon) until browned. If using bacon, cook until crispy, then crumble it. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook until soft, about 3–5 minutes.
- Stir in all the beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake uncovered for 45 minutes until thick and bubbly.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
