Slow Cooker Smoky BBQ Pulled Chicken

Get ready for a mouthwatering meal that’s as easy as it is flavorful! This Slow Cooker Smoky BBQ Pulled Chicken is tender, juicy, and packed with that deep, smoky barbecue flavor we all crave. Just toss everything in the slow cooker and let it do the work—perfect for busy weeknights, game day, or feeding a crowd. Serve it on a bun, over rice, or straight from the spoon—you really can’t go wrong!

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)

  • 1 ½ cups BBQ sauce (use smoky-flavored for best results)

  • ½ cup chicken broth

  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional, for added sweetness)

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

  1. Mix Sauce: In a bowl, stir together BBQ sauce, chicken broth, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, salt, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.

  2. Add Chicken: Place the chicken in the slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture over the top.

  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shredded.

  4. Shred: Remove the chicken and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir to coat it in the sauce.

  5. Serve: Delicious on sandwich buns, sliders, baked potatoes, or even over rice or salad.

Optional Toppings: coleslaw, pickles, crispy onions, or extra BBQ sauce.
Make it a Meal: Pair with baked beans, corn on the cob, or mac & cheese.

Note:
For extra smoky flavor, try using a smoked BBQ sauce or add a few drops of liquid smoke (about 1/4 teaspoon) to the sauce mixture. If you prefer a spicier kick, stir in a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce. This recipe also works great with chicken thighs for an even juicier texture.
