Sure, here’s a classic Patty Melt recipe for you:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of rye bread
  • 8 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Optional: mustard or mayonnaise for spreading

Instructions:

  • First, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Divide it into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, slightly larger than the size of your bread slices.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until desired doneness. Once cooked, remove from pan and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat.. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are
  • soft and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Remove the onions from the pan and set aside.
  • Spread mustard or mayonnaise on one side of each slice of rye bread (optional). Place a slice of Swiss cheese on the unbuttered side of 4 slices of bread.

  • Top the cheese with a cooked beef patty, then add a portion of the caramelized onions on top of each patty.
  • Place another slice of Swiss cheese on top of the onions, then cover each patty with one of the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
  • In the skillet, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Once melted, place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove the sandwich from the pan and serve warm.
