Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf

Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf

Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf is a delicious twist on the classic meatloaf, combining the flavors of a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with the comfort of a meatloaf. Here’s a recipe to help you prepare it:

Ingredients:

For the Meatloaf:

  • 1 pound ground beef (you can also use a mix of ground beef and ground pork)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup sliced provolone or American cheese (or Cheese Whiz for a more authentic Philly cheesesteak flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, and milk. Mix well to combine.
  3. Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, dried oregano, dried thyme, dried basil, and paprika to the meat mixture. Mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
  4. On a piece of wax paper or aluminum foil, flatten the meat mixture into a rectangular shape, about 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Layer the sliced mushrooms and cheese over the flattened meat mixture, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges.
  6. Carefully roll up the meatloaf, using the wax paper or aluminum foil to help guide the rolling. Press the edges to seal the meatloaf.

  1. Place the rolled meatloaf seam-side down in a baking dish or on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the meat is cooked through.
  3. Once the meatloaf is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  4. Slice the meatloaf into portions and serve warm. The melted cheese and savory flavors make it a perfect dish on its own, but you can also serve it with additional sautéed mushrooms, onions, and peppers if desired.

Enjoy your delicious Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf!
