Slow Cooker Teriyaki Meatballs

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Meatballs

There’s something about the slow cooker that makes life feel just a little bit easier. I remember the first time I made teriyaki meatballs this way—it was a busy weeknight, and I needed something hearty but effortless to feed the family. I tossed everything into the slow cooker before heading out, and by the time dinner rolled around, the kitchen was filled with the warm, sweet, and savory aroma of teriyaki sauce mingling with tender meatballs.

What I love most about this dish is how versatile it is. You can serve it as a comforting dinner over rice with a side of veggies, or bring it to a potluck as a crowd-pleasing appetizer that disappears in no time. It’s one of those recipes that feels both cozy and a little special—like takeout made at home, but with the ease of “set it and forget it.”

Ingredients:

  • 1 (2 lb) bag frozen meatballs (beef, pork, chicken, or turkey)

  • 1 cup teriyaki sauce (bottled or homemade)

  • ½ cup pineapple juice (from canned pineapple)

  • ⅓ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated (or 1 tsp ground ginger)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)

  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together teriyaki sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger.

  2. Add meatballs: Place frozen meatballs into your slow cooker. Pour the sauce mixture over the top and stir to coat evenly.

  3. Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 4–6 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours, stirring halfway through.

  4. Thicken (optional): If you’d like a thicker glaze, stir in the cornstarch slurry during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

  5. Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve over steamed rice or as an appetizer.

📝 Notes:

  • Meatball Options: Use beef, pork, chicken, or turkey meatballs—frozen or homemade all work.

  • Sauce Swap: If you don’t have pineapple juice, you can use orange juice for a citrusy twist.

  • Make Ahead: Assemble everything in the slow cooker insert the night before, refrigerate, then just pop it in to cook the next day.

  • Serving Ideas: These are delicious over rice, noodles, or as an appetizer with toothpicks.

  • Storage: Leftovers keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat beautifully.
