There’s something so comforting about coming home to a warm, hearty pot roast—especially one that practically cooked itself while you were busy with life. This Slow Cooker 3 Packet Pot Roast is a recipe that’s been passed around in my family for years. It started as one of those “throw it together and hope for the best” meals, but the flavor? Absolutely unforgettable.
The best part? It uses just three simple seasoning packets and a chuck roast—no fancy ingredients, no stress. I still remember the first time I made it on a rainy Monday. I came home, opened the door, and the smell hit me like a hug from Grandma. It’s the kind of meal that turns a regular day into something special.
Whether you’re feeding a busy household or just want leftovers that taste even better the next day, this pot roast is pure slow cooker magic.
Ingredients:
3 to 4 lb chuck roast
1 packet ranch dressing mix
1 packet brown gravy mix
1 packet Italian dressing mix
1 cup water (or beef broth for extra flavor)
Optional: carrots, potatoes, and onions
Instructions:
Prep the Roast: Place the chuck roast in the bottom of your slow cooker.
Mix the Packets: In a bowl, mix the 3 seasoning packets with 1 cup of water or broth.
Pour & Cook: Pour the mixture over the roast. Add optional veggies if using.
Slow Cook:
Cook on low for 8 hours
Or on high for 4–5 hours, until the roast is tender and falls apart easily.
Serve: Shred the roast slightly and serve with the cooked vegetables and gravy from the slow cooker.
🔖 Note:
This recipe is incredibly versatile—feel free to add potatoes, carrots, or even mushrooms to the slow cooker for a full one-pot meal. If you like a thicker gravy, whisk 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with a bit of cold water and stir it into the juices during the last 30 minutes of cooking. Leftovers taste even better the next day, making this perfect for meal prep or sandwiches!
