Ingredients

2 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)

½ cup breadcrumbs

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg, beaten

2 tablespoons milk

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

12 small mozzarella cubes (about ½ inch each)

1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing)2 cups marinara sauce

Fresh basil (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Set your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Lightly grease a baking dish or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Meatball Mixture:

    • In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, milk, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
    • Stir until everything is well combined but avoid overmixing.

  1. Shape and Stuff the Meatballs:

    • Take a small portion of the meat mixture (about 2 tablespoons) and flatten it in your palm.
    • Place a mozzarella cube in the center, then wrap the meat around it, rolling it into a ball.
    • Repeat until all meatballs are formed.
  2. Bake the Meatballs:

    • Arrange the meatballs in the greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.
    • Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the cheese is melted inside.
  3. Add Marinara Sauce:

    • Pour marinara sauce into a skillet or baking dish.
    • Place the cooked meatballs into the sauce and let them simmer for a few minutes.

    • Garnish with fresh basil and extra Parmesan cheese if desired.
