Ingredients:

For the Salisbury Steak Patties:

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (preferably 80% lean)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

For the Gravy:

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

For Garnish (optional):

  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

  • Prepare the Salisbury Steak Patties:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, diced onions, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
    • Mix everything together until well combined.
  • Shape the Patties:
    • Divide the mixture into 4-6 equal portions, depending on how large you want your patties.
    • Shape each portion into an oval or round patty.
  • Brown the Patties:
    • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a bit of oil.
    • When the oil is hot, add the patties and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they’re browned.
    • Transfer the browned patties to your slow cooker.
  • Prepare the Gravy:
    • In the same skillet you used for browning the patties, add the sliced onions and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they become translucent.

  • Add Flour and Deglaze:
    • Sprinkle the flour over the onions and cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the flour is lightly browned.
    • Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps.
    • Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
    • Continue to cook and stir until the gravy thickens, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  • Pour Gravy Over the Patties:
    • Pour the prepared gravy over the patties in the slow cooker.
  • Slow Cook:
    • Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4-6 hours, or until the Salisbury steak patties are tender and cooked through.
  • Serve:
    • Once the Salisbury steak is done, you can serve it hot.
    • Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor.

Serve your Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles, along with some steamed vegetables for a complete meal. Enjoy!
