Oven-Baked Ham and Swiss Biscuit Sliders

Oven-Baked Ham and Swiss Biscuit Sliders

Some recipes will surprise you the first time you make them. These Oven-Baked  Ham and Swiss Biscuit Sliders did that for me. I first threw these together on a busy Saturday afternoon when I needed something quick for company. I didn’t want to spend hours in the kitchen cooking and I didn’t want a sink full of dishes after. I did a quick survey of my fridge and found a package of biscuit dough, some sliced ham and Swiss cheese. It was one of the easiest crowd-pleasers I ever made from that simple combination.

The sliders baked into golden, fluffy biscuits and the Swiss cheese melted into the ham. I couldn’t even put the table out before everyone was in the kitchen from the smell alone. Within minutes the tray was totally empty. I didn’t get one for myself, hardly.

Since then, these sliders have become a regular part of my recipe file. They work for lunch, dinner, game days, potlucks and even family casual get-togethers. These little sandwiches are just the ticket when I need something simple that people really like. Best part? 3 easy ingredients make something that tastes far more special than the effort involved.

Why I Still Make It

I continue to make these sliders because they solve so many meal-time problems. They are useful when I need a quick lunch. They work when unexpected visitors come. “They work again when I need a simple appetizer for a gathering. There aren’t many recipes that loose.

I also love the fact that there is minimal prep involved. I can whip up a batch in a few minutes, put in the oven and get on with other things while they bake. Most importantly, people love them. The kids love the melted cheese and soft biscuits. Adults like the savory ham and buttery taste. And I make them, and someone always asks for the recipe. That’s usually the sign of a guy to keep.

Notes on the recipe

These sliders come together quickly, but a few simple tips make them even better:

  • For the ham, cut the larger slices to fit nicely inside the dough.
