There’s nothing quite like the rich, savory flavor of a perfectly cooked beef brisket—and using a slow cooker makes it incredibly easy. This recipe delivers tender, juicy brisket infused with a blend of spices and slow-simmered goodness. Whether you’re serving it for a family dinner or meal prepping for the week, this dish is sure to be a hearty, comforting favorite.
Ingredients:
3–4 lb beef brisket (trimmed)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1 cup beef broth
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup BBQ sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
1 onion, sliced
4 garlic cloves, smashed
Instructions:
Season the brisket: In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and thyme. Rub all over the brisket.
Sear (optional but recommended): Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned (about 3–4 minutes per side).
Layer in the slow cooker: Place sliced onions and garlic in the bottom. Lay the brisket on top.
Add liquids: Pour beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and BBQ sauce (if using) around the brisket.
Slow cook: Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours or high for 4–5 hours, until the brisket is fork-tender.
Rest & slice: Remove brisket and let it rest for 10 minutes. Slice against the grain. Optional: skim fat from juices and pour over the meat for serving.
Note: For best results, sear the brisket before adding it to the slow cooker—it adds extra flavor and helps lock in the juices. You can also refrigerate the cooked brisket overnight; it’s even easier to slice the next day and the flavors deepen beautifully.
