Dill Pickle Saltines

Dill Pickle Saltines

Dill Pickle Saltines are a simple and tasty snack that combines the tangy flavor of dill pickles with the crunch of saltine crackers. Here’s a basic recipe to get you started:

Ingredients:

  • 1 sleeve of saltine crackers
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 packet (1 oz) dry ranch dressing mix
  • 1 tablespoon dried dill weed (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 gallon-sized resealable plastic bag

Instructions:

  • Prepare the Seasoning Mix:
    • In a small bowl, combine the dry ranch dressing mix, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and optional red pepper flakes. Mix well to combine the flavors.
  • Prepare the Crackers:
    • Place the sleeve of saltine crackers in the resealable plastic bag.
  • Add the Seasoning:
    • Drizzle the vegetable oil over the saltine crackers in the bag.
  • Season the Crackers:
    • Sprinkle the prepared seasoning mix over the crackers in the bag.
  • Seal and Shake:
    • Seal the bag tightly and gently shake and massage the bag to distribute the oil and seasoning evenly over the crackers. Be careful not to break the crackers while shaking.
  • Let the Flavors Mingle:
    • Allow the bag of seasoned crackers to sit for at least 4-6 hours, or ideally overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and the crackers to absorb the seasoning.

  • Serve and Enjoy:
    • Once the crackers have absorbed the flavors, you can serve them as a snack. They’re great on their own or paired with dips like hummus, tzatziki, or a cheese spread.
  • Storage:
    • Store the Dill Pickle Saltines in an airtight container or resealable bag to keep them fresh.

Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your taste preferences. If you want a stronger dill pickle flavor, you can increase the amount of dried dill weed. Likewise, you can adjust the level of salt and heat according to your liking.

Remember that the longer the crackers sit in the seasoning, the more flavorful they will become. Experiment with the seasoning ratios until you achieve the taste you desire. Enjoy your homemade Dill Pickle Saltines!
