Ingredients:
1 (4-5 lb) smoked ham (boneless or bone-in)
1 can (12 oz) cola or ginger ale
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup maple syrup or honey
1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
1 tsp ground cloves (or whole cloves pressed into the ham)
1 cup water
Instructions:
Place the ham in the slow cooker.
In a bowl, mix brown sugar, cola (or ginger ale), maple syrup, and mustard. Pour over the ham.
Sprinkle ground cloves over the top (or insert whole cloves into the ham).
Add water to the bottom of the slow cooker.
Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or until heated through and tender.
Baste the ham with the juices occasionally.
Slice and serve with the delicious glaze from the slow cooker.
Note: For extra flavor, let the ham sit in the glaze for a few hours before cooking. If you prefer a thicker glaze, remove some of the liquid after cooking and simmer it on the stove until it reduces. Leftovers make great sandwiches or can be added to soups for extra smoky flavor!
