Perfect for game day 🏈, family dinners 🍽️, or backyard cookouts 🌞, these bratwursts soak up all the delicious flavors as they simmer. Ingredients:

  • 5-6 bratwurst

  • 1 bottle (12 oz) beer (lager or ale works well)

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (any color)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 5-6 hoagie rolls (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Sear the brats (optional, but adds flavor!) – Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the bratwurst for 2-3 minutes per side.

  2. Place sliced onions and bell peppers in the slow cooker. Add butter, garlic powder, mustard, salt, and pepper.

  3. Nestle the brats on top of the veggies. Pour the beer over everything.

  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours until brats are fully cooked and tender.

  5. Serve in hoagie rolls with some of the onions and peppers on top. Add mustard or sauerkraut if you like!

Note: For extra flavor, try searing the bratwurst in a skillet before adding them to the slow cooker. This helps lock in the juices and adds a delicious caramelized crust. You can also use different types of beerβ€”lager for a milder taste or a darker ale for a richer flavor. Want a little kick? Add a pinch of red pepper flakes! 🌭🍺πŸ”₯
