Here’s an easy and flavorful Beef and Pepper Rice Bowl recipe you can prepare at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) beef (sirloin, flank steak, or ground beef)
  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 bell pepper (red, yellow, or green), sliced
  • ½ onion, sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for enhanced flavor)
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (or honey for a touch of sweetness)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
  • 1 green onion, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the beef:

    • If using steak, thinly slice it against the grain.
    • If using ground beef, break it apart while cooking.
  2. Cook the beef:

    • Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
    • Add the beef and cook until browned (about 5–6 minutes).
    • Remove from the pan and set aside.

    • Using the same pan, add the sliced onion and bell peppers.
    • Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for another 28 seconds.

    • Return the beef to the pan.
    • Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
    • Mix well and cook for another 1–2 minutes.
    • Finish with a drizzle of sesame oil before turning off the heat.
