Homemade Crunch Wrap Supreme

Crunch Wrap Supreme

A Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme is a delicious and customizable dish inspired by the popular fast-food item. It consists of various layers of ingredients wrapped in a large tortilla and then crisped up on a hot griddle. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or make your own with chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper)
  • 1 cup refried beans
  • 1 cup nacho cheese sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup crushed tortilla chips (for the crunch)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup diced jalapeƱos (optional)
  • 4 large flour tortillas (burrito-sized)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  • Prepare the Filling:
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned and crumbled.
    • Drain excess fat, if necessary.
    • Add the taco seasoning and follow the package instructions, typically involving adding water and simmering until the mixture thickens. If you’re making your own seasoning, follow your chosen recipe.
  • Assemble the Crunchwrap:
    • Lay a large flour tortilla flat on a clean surface.
    • In the center of the tortilla, spread a spoonful of refried beans, leaving about a 1.5-inch border around the edge.
    • On top of the beans, add a layer of the cooked meat mixture.
    • Drizzle nacho cheese sauce over the meat.
    • Add diced tomatoes, lettuce, onions, jalapeƱos (if using), and a handful of crushed tortilla chips.

  • Fold the Crunchwrap:
    • To fold the Crunchwrap, start by folding in the sides of the tortilla, making sure the filling is well-contained.
    • Then, fold up the bottom of the tortilla to create a tight bundle.
    • Place the folded side down onto a hot griddle or large skillet to sear it shut.
    • Cook for a few minutes on each side until the tortilla is crispy and golden brown. You can use a little oil or non-stick cooking spray to help with browning.
  • Serve:
    • Remove the Crunchwrap from the griddle and let it cool for a minute.
    • Cut it in half, and you’re ready to enjoy. You can serve it with extra sour cream and salsa on the side if desired.

Feel free to customize your Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme with your favorite ingredients. You can also make a vegetarian version by substituting the meat with plant-based crumbles or extra beans. Enjoy your homemade version of this delicious fast-food classic!
