Slow Cooker Lasagna

Sure! Here’s a recipe for Slow Cooker Lasagna:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 package (9 ounces) no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook until the onion is softened and translucent. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  2. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and water to the skillet. Stir well to combine all the ingredients. Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  4. To assemble the lasagna in the slow cooker, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the slow cooker to prevent sticking. Place a layer of lasagna noodles on top, breaking them if needed to fit. Spread a layer of the meat sauce over the noodles, followed by a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture, and a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat these layers until all the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

  1. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 4 to 6 hours or until the lasagna noodles are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. Once cooked, remove the lid and let the lasagna sit in the slow cooker for about 15 minutes to set before serving. This will make it easier to slice and serve.
  3. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired, and serve hot. Enjoy your delicious slow cooker lasagna!

Note: Slow cooker sizes can vary, so the cooking time may vary as well. Make sure to check the lasagna periodically to avoid overcooking.
