  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)


  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set it aside.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. You can use an electric mixer or do it by hand with a wooden spoon.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  3. Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
