Tres Leches Cake

Tres Leches Cake is a delicious dessert that originates from Latin America. Here’s a recipe to prepare it:


  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

For the three milks:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream

For the whipped cream topping:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the 1/2 cup of whole milk, and mix until just combined.

  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. While the cake is baking, prepare the three milks. In a large bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream until smooth.
  4. When the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  5. Use a fork to prick the cake all over.
  6. Slowly pour the three milks over the cake, making sure that it is fully absorbed.

  1. Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. When ready to serve, make the whipped cream topping. In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  3. Spread the whipped cream over the top of the cake and serve.
