Kentucky Butter Cake

Kentucky Butter Cake is a delicious and rich dessert that is perfect for any occasion. Here’s how to prepare it:

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the glaze:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease a 10-inch (25cm) bundt pan with butter and lightly dust it with flour.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and vegetable oil until light and fluffy, using an electric mixer on medium speed.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 70 to 80 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  1. While the cake is baking, make the glaze. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, water, and sugar together, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. When the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  4. Carefully invert the cake onto a wire rack, with a tray or plate underneath to catch any drips.
  5. Poke the cake all over with a skewer or fork, making small holes all around the cake.
  6. Pour the glaze over the cake while it is still warm, allowing it to soak in.
  7. Let the cake cool completely before slicing and serving.
