Chocolate Fudge Cake

Here’s a recipe for a delicious chocolate fudge cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

For the Fudge Icing:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add in milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract, then mix everything together until well combined.

  1. Add in the boiling water, and mix until the batter is smooth.
  2. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  4. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pans for about 10 minutes.
  5. Then, remove the cakes from the pans and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  6. To make the fudge icing, melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan over low heat.

  1. Once the butter is melted, add the cocoa powder and stir until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, and whisk everything together until smooth and creamy.
  3. If the icing is too thick, add a bit more milk, one tablespoon at a time.
  4. Once the cake is cooled, place one layer onto a serving plate and spread a generous layer of fudge icing over it.
  5. Add the second cake layer on top and spread more icing over the top and sides of the cake.
  6. Decorate the cake with your favorite toppings and enjoy your delicious chocolate fudge cake!
