Cinnamon Apple Cake

Here’s a simple recipe for Cinnamon Apple Cake:


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and chopped (about 2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

For the topping:

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples and walnuts (if using).
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth out the top with a spatula.
