French Onion Chicken

French Onion Chicken is a delicious and flavorful dish that combines the classic taste of French onion soup with tender chicken breasts. Here’s how you can prepare it:

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, for about 15-20 minutes, or until the onions are caramelized and browned.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to cook off the raw flour taste.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and stir to combine. Add the thyme leaves and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  6. Place the chicken breasts in a baking dish and pour the onion mixture over the chicken.

  1. Bake the chicken for about 25-30 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (75°C).
  2. Remove the chicken from the oven and sprinkle the shredded Gruyere cheese over the top.
  3. Return the chicken to the oven and broil on high for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Garnish the dish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Enjoy your delicious French Onion Chicken!
