Here’s a recipe for Orange Brownies with Cream Cheese Frosting:
Ingredients:
For the Orange Brownies:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 4 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp orange zest
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until well combined.
- Add in the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
- Add the orange zest and orange juice to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the brownies are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and orange zest to the bowl and beat until well combined.
- Once the brownies are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes.
- Spread the cream cheese frosting over the top of the brownies, using a spatula to smooth it out.
- Refrigerate the brownies for at least 30 minutes to allow the frosting to set.
- Cut the brownies into squares and serve. Enjoy!
Note: You can also add some chopped nuts, such as pecans or walnuts, to the batter for extra texture and flavor.
